Charlie Kirk Dominates Google’s 2025 Trending Searches in the US

As 2025 winds down and the new year approaches, Google has released its Year in Search, highlighting the events, individuals, and pop-culture moments that generated significant spikes in search interest.

Leading this year’s trending searches in the U.S. is Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, who tragically lost his life during a campus event at Utah Valley University on September 10. This incident sparked a nationwide surge in search activity.

Following Kirk in the top five searches were Netflix’s hit film “KPop Demon Hunters,” the viral plush collectible Labubu, Apple’s iPhone 17, and the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” which was signed into law in July.

Other notable spikes in search activity included New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, the AI platform DeepSeek, discussions around the government shutdown, the FIFA Club World Cup, and tariffs, according to Google.
