High-Net-Worth Provider PCS Appoints Former PURE CEO Buchmueller as Chairman
Ross Buchmueller, the founder and former CEO of PURE Insurance, is set to take on a significant role as the chairman of Private Client Select Insurance Services (PCS), a managing general underwriter. This announcement marks an exciting new chapter for both Buchmueller and PCS.

Buchmueller shared the news on LinkedIn on January 5, expressing his enthusiasm for the opportunity to lead PCS. The firm was established approximately three years ago through a collaboration between American International Group (AIG) and private equity firm Stone Point Capital, aimed at catering to the high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth market.
“I’m looking forward to helping this team realize their full potential,” Buchmueller stated on LinkedIn. He also noted that Stone Point Capital was PURE’s first investment partner, and he has been serving as a senior advisor for the firm.
AIG praised Buchmueller, stating, “Ross is a recognized industry leader in the U.S. high-net-worth personal insurance market with a demonstrated track record of building, running, and leading high-growth businesses.” The company emphasized that Buchmueller’s extensive expertise in the high and ultra-high-net-worth market will be crucial as PCS strives to deliver exceptional service and value to its clients. AIG expressed optimism for PCS’s continued growth and innovation under Buchmueller’s leadership.
Buchmueller transitioned from PURE at the end of 2023, after nearly two decades of building the company into a significant player in the insurance industry. Martin Leitch has since taken over as CEO.
In a notable industry development, Tokio Marine Holdings, through its subsidiary HCC Insurance Holdings, announced the acquisition of PURE for $3.1 billion in 2019, further solidifying the company’s position in the market.
