Bridge Specialty Expands Reach with Acquisition of Pennsylvania Wholesale Broker

Bridge Specialty Group, a subsidiary of Florida-based Brown & Brown, Inc., has made a significant move by acquiring the assets of Shoemaker & Besser, a managing general agent and wholesale insurance brokerage based in York, Pennsylvania.
This acquisition will allow the Shoemaker & Besser team to continue their operations from York, under the leadership of Jason Haupt, who serves as the regional president of Bridge Specialty Group’s Mid-Atlantic and Delta region.
Jack Brubaker, president of Shoemaker & Besser, along with vice president Allan Boyd, expressed their enthusiasm about the merger. They noted that the retail agents their firm serves will benefit from an expanded market reach in both personal and commercial lines, enabling them to better meet their customers’ needs.
Anurag Batta, president of Bridge Specialty Group, emphasized that this merger will significantly enhance the firm’s contract binding and light brokerage business, positioning them for greater success in the competitive insurance landscape.
