Barista Fired for Serving Sheriff’s Deputy Coffee Cup Featuring Pig Drawing
FOX Business’ Lauren Simonetti reports on the latest lawsuits hitting Starbucks as baristas in multiple states claim the company’s new dress code is illegal and forcing them to pay out of pocket.
A Starbucks barista in Norwalk, California, has been terminated after handing a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy a coffee cup adorned with a pig illustration. This incident has sparked significant attention and controversy, leading to an internal investigation by the coffee giant.
The deputy, Brandon Longoria, received the cup while on duty during a 16-hour shift. The drawing, which was meant to be a light-hearted gesture among staff, was mistakenly given to a customer. Starbucks clarified that the illustration was intended to uplift employees and was not meant for public distribution.
In response to the incident, Starbucks stated, “This was unacceptable. We have reached out to the customer several times and leaders in the Sheriff’s Department to apologize.” The company emphasized its respect for law enforcement and its commitment to addressing the situation swiftly.

The drawing, which has become a popular meme, was described as “never intended to be delivered to any customer, and it should not have been,” according to the spokesperson.
