New York State Police Investigate 30-Car Pileup on I-81 Close to Syracuse

On Thursday, January 15, at approximately 2:20 p.m., New York State Police were dispatched to a report of a significant multi-vehicle crash on I-81 southbound, just south of Exit 73 in LaFayette. This rural community is located about 15 miles south of Syracuse.

Authorities reported that a staggering total of 37 vehicles were involved in the incident. Preliminary investigations suggest that the crash was weather-related, as the region was experiencing heavy snowfall at the time.

Emergency responders transported several individuals to nearby hospitals for treatment. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported in connection with this accident.
