Connecticut Fire Causes Damage to 5 Businesses, Impacting Beloved Restaurant

A devastating fire broke out in a commercial plaza in Thomaston, Connecticut, affecting five businesses, including the beloved local restaurant, Patti’s Place. The incident occurred late Tuesday night and continued into the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Firefighters responded promptly to the blaze on Park Street, initially launching an aggressive interior attack. However, as conditions rapidly deteriorated, they were forced to switch to an exterior strategy. The fire department reported that crews worked tirelessly for approximately 14 hours in freezing temperatures, which presented additional challenges such as frozen hydrants, hoses, and equipment.

By Wednesday afternoon, around 3 PM, the fire department was called back to the site due to a rekindle of the flames. Fortunately, the situation was quickly brought under control, allowing crews to clear the scene.

The businesses impacted by the fire include Patti’s Place, American Nail Salon, Moms Place, Chatham Beach Salon, and U.S. Graphics. The cause of the fire remains under investigation as authorities work to determine what led to this unfortunate event.

Patti Kelley, the owner of Patti’s Place, expressed her shock and devastation upon learning about the fire. In an interview with WSFB-Eyewitness News, she recounted receiving a phone call late Tuesday night informing her that her restaurant was engulfed in flames. “Shock, shocking. I keep going over it in my head, and I keep looking like it’s not real,” Kelley shared. “It’s devastating. It is real. It’s there. It’s gone.”
