APCIA Appoints Hanson to Spearhead National Advocacy and Coalition Initiatives
The American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) has made a significant addition to its leadership team by hiring Meagan Myers Hanson as the new department vice president for advocacy, campaigns, and coalitions.
In her new role, Hanson will spearhead APCIA’s integrated advocacy campaigns, coordinating both national and state-based coalitions. She will also be responsible for shaping messaging and engagement strategies aimed at advancing APCIA’s public policy priorities across various legislative, regulatory, and judicial platforms.
“Meagan brings deep experience in strategic advocacy, public policy leadership, and coalition development—skills that will strengthen APCIA’s integrated campaigns across federal and state arenas,” stated Nate Cook, APCIA’s chief strategy officer. Her expertise is expected to enhance the organization’s efforts in navigating complex policy landscapes.
David A. Sampson, APCIA’s president and CEO, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that Hanson “brings the experience and strategic perspective that underscore APCIA’s strong commitment to impactful advocacy campaigns and building broad, effective coalitions.” He further noted that her leadership will play a crucial role in addressing legal system abuse and ensuring the continued availability and affordability of insurance for consumers and businesses across the nation.
Hanson comes to APCIA with over a decade of experience in legal, policy, and government affairs. Most recently, she served as chief counsel for legal policy at Koch Capabilities, where she was instrumental in developing national strategies to tackle emerging litigation and regulatory challenges. Her previous role as executive director of Georgians for Lawsuit Reform saw her successfully advance comprehensive tort reform initiatives while expanding the organization’s advocacy, coalition, and PAC efforts.
In addition to her extensive advocacy work, Hanson has a background in public service, having served as a State Representative for House District 80 in the Georgia General Assembly. Her diverse experience also includes senior legal and political roles with the American Institute of Architects and Associated Builders and Contractors, as well as a focus on complex domestic litigation practice.
