AT&T Plans Move of Corporate Headquarters from Dallas to Plano by 2028
Texas Capital Bank CEO Rob Holmes joins Mornings with Maria to discuss the bank’s record-breaking quarter, the state of regional lenders, and why Texas is rapidly becoming America’s financial hub.
AT&T is planning to build a new corporate headquarters outside downtown Dallas in the suburban city of Plano, as announced in a letter to employees on Monday.
CEO John Stankey revealed that the company intends to relocate its headquarters, which has been based in Dallas since 2008, to a site near the Legacy West food and shopping district in Plano.
The new headquarters will occupy 54 acres of land that previously housed Electronic Data Systems. Stankey emphasized the transformation of the site, stating, “We’ll be transforming this site from the ground up — demolishing the old buildings and designing a new, modern campus that’s built for how we work best: together,” as reported by The Wall Street Journal.

AT&T’s relocation plan involves moving most of the 6,000 employees from its high-rise Dallas headquarters to the new facility in Plano. This new site will feature a broader, low-rise campus that consolidates more of its operations on-site.
An AT&T official mentioned to the Journal that the company struggled to find a sufficiently large parcel of land in downtown Dallas for its new headquarters, although some personnel and corporate functions will remain downtown.
