Cessna Jet Linked to NASCAR Driver Greg Biffle Crashes in North Carolina

Tragedy struck the racing community as former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle and his family are believed to have perished in a devastating plane crash. Their Cessna Citation corporate jet went down shortly after taking off from a regional airport in North Carolina.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol released a statement indicating that while the post-crash fire has complicated the identification of the occupants, it is believed that Mr. Gregory Biffle, along with members of his immediate family, were aboard the aircraft. A complete list of the victims will be made available once the medical examiner’s office confirms their identities. Initially, the Federal Aviation Administration reported six victims, but this number was later revised to seven.
NASCAR expressed its sorrow over the tragic loss, stating, “We are devastated by the tragic loss of Greg Biffle, his wife Cristina, daughter Emma, son Ryder, Craig Wadsworth, and Dennis and Jack Dutton in a fatal plane crash.” The organization highlighted Biffle’s contributions beyond racing, noting his dedication to the community, especially during the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, where he devoted countless hours to helping citizens in need.
FlightRadar24 data reveals that the plane took off from Statesville Regional Airport, located north of Charlotte, at 10:07 a.m. The aircraft climbed to 2,000 feet (610 meters) before attempting to return to the airport. Tragically, the jet crashed while trying to land around 10:20 a.m., as confirmed by the FAA.
Social media platforms were flooded with images depicting a burning aircraft on the runway, capturing the harrowing aftermath of the incident.
