HP CEO Enrique Lores discusses the use of AI in company technology on ‘The Claman Countdown.’
DoorDash, Inc. made headlines on Wednesday with the announcement of a new grocery shopping app integrated within OpenAI’s ChatGPT platform. This launch comes just a week after its competitor, Instacart, introduced a similar feature, signaling a growing trend in AI-driven grocery shopping solutions.
The innovative integration will leverage ChatGPT’s capabilities to connect users with DoorDash’s extensive grocery network across the nation. Customers will now be able to transform recipe ideas and meal inspirations into grocery orders that can be delivered in as little as an hour. “This partnership is a major first step toward meeting customers where they look for inspiration and bringing them the DoorDash experience they already know and love,” the company stated in a press release.
DoorDash co-founder Andy Fang emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating that it aims to streamline the meal-planning and shopping process. He noted, “AI is unlocking an entirely new search and discovery experience for consumers that’s dynamic and personalized.”

“We’re thrilled to partner with OpenAI to create a seamless experience that allows users to quickly order ingredients for any recipe and check out directly on DoorDash,” Fang added. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to broaden the use of AI, with a focus on developing tools that save time and simplify local shopping.
DoorDash aims to make grocery shopping “easier, faster and more convenient.” The integration will allow ChatGPT to customize recipes based on user preferences, generating a tailored grocery list. Once the list is complete, users can easily access their cart in the DoorDash app and have their order delivered from a local store.
Participating stores in this partnership include Kroger, Safeway, Bi-Rite, Schnucks, Fairway Markets, and Wegmans, enhancing the variety of options available to customers.

“The DoorDash app in ChatGPT is another step toward bringing our vision to life—where AI connects directly to real-world services, saving people time and effort in their everyday lives,” stated Nick Turley, head of ChatGPT.
Interestingly, DoorDash’s announcement follows closely on the heels of Instacart’s introduction of its own app on ChatGPT, designed to assist customers in creating online grocery carts that can be paid for and delivered swiftly. Instacart’s Chief Technology Officer, Anirban Kundu, remarked, “Instacart and ChatGPT are redefining what’s possible in AI-powered shopping,” highlighting the potential of this technology in everyday life.
