Chubb Overseas General Promotes DePeters to Lead Commercial Insurance, Specialty

Chubb has announced the promotion of John DePeters to the position of executive vice president, head of Commercial Insurance and Specialty for Chubb Overseas General Insurance (COG). This appointment is effective January 1, 2026, and DePeters will be based in London.

In his new role, DePeters will be responsible for overseeing the performance and accelerating the global expansion of Chubb’s middle market, small commercial, and specialty lines portfolios. He aims to maximize growth and profitability by leveraging package and multi-line underwriting, portfolio management, advanced analytics, and technology. DePeters will collaborate closely with regional leaders and teams to achieve these objectives.

With over 13 years of experience in the insurance industry at Chubb, DePeters most recently served as the chief underwriting officer for North America Small & Lower Midmarket. His career includes various international leadership roles, such as head of Middle Market & Small Commercial for Asia Pacific, head of Cyber Product & Technology Industry Practice for Australia and New Zealand, and cyber product manager for Asia. He began his career in North America financial lines and global casualty underwriting and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Brown University.

“John is a highly accomplished executive whose international experience and deep expertise in insurance make him exceptionally well-suited to lead our Commercial Insurance and Specialty segments,” stated Brian Church, division president of Property and Casualty at Chubb Overseas General Insurance.

BMS Appoints Emkes From Lockton in New Role of Director of Commercial D&O

BMS, the independent insurance and reinsurance broker, has announced the appointment of Charlie Emkes as the director of commercial directors and officers (D&O) solutions, effective January 2026.

Based in London, Emkes will report to Tom Spraggs, director and head of financial institutions – UK retail. This newly created role aims to advance the current commercial D&O strategy and lead new business development efforts in collaboration with colleagues from BMS and the UK broker David Roberts & Partners (DR&P), which was acquired by BMS in 2024.

Emkes joins BMS from Lockton and brings over 12 years of experience in the London Market, having previously held roles at Protean Risk and Gallagher earlier in his career.

“Charlie brings a wealth of insurer and client relationships alongside his own deep industry knowledge, making him the ideal leader to drive innovation and growth in commercial D&O for BMS,” said Spraggs. “He will foster stronger alignment across teams and unlock new opportunities for expansion.”
