Disney Employee Injured While Attempting to Halt Runaway Boulder at Indiana Jones Attraction

A Walt Disney World employee in Florida sustained injuries while trying to prevent a large runaway prop boulder from crashing into seated spectators during the Indiana Jones live show. This incident occurred at the “Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular” located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios park.
On Tuesday, the 400-pound (181-kilogram) prop boulder unexpectedly moved off its track and began rolling toward audience members. Fortunately, another worker intervened and managed to stop the boulder before it could reach the spectators. However, the initial worker was knocked to the ground during the incident.
Disney has opted not to disclose the specifics of the worker’s injuries, citing privacy concerns. Following the accident, one of the scheduled shows for that day was canceled, and the performances on Wednesday were adjusted to exclude the use of the prop boulder. The company stated that it is currently investigating the reasons behind the boulder’s deviation from its track.
In a statement, Disney emphasized, “We’re focused on supporting our cast member, who is recovering. Safety is at the heart of what we do, and that element of the show will be modified as our safety team completes a review of what happened.”
The “Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular” is inspired by the iconic Indiana Jones films, recreating a memorable scene from the first movie, “Raiders of the Lost Ark.”
