Father of NASCAR Star Hamlin Dies in NC House Fire That Consumed Family Home

Tragedy struck the family of longtime NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin when his father, Dennis Hamlin, passed away due to a devastating house fire. The incident occurred at their residence near Charlotte, leaving Denny’s mother in critical condition.
According to multiple news sources, the fire engulfed the couple’s 3,700-square-foot home in Stanley, North Carolina. Fire crews arrived on the scene to find the house half consumed by flames. Although Denny Hamlin’s parents managed to escape the burning structure, 75-year-old Dennis, who had previously faced health challenges, later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, as reported by The Athletic .
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Fortunately, firefighters were able to salvage some valuables from the home, as noted by Al.com .

Earlier this month, a Cessna jet carrying retired NASCAR driver Greg Biffle and his family crashed near the runway in Statesville. In 2023, an explosion caused by a natural gas leak in Mooresville destroyed a home owned by NFL player Caleb Farley, tragically resulting in his father’s death. Additionally, in July 2025, former Major League Baseball player Chase Childers drowned while attempting to rescue swimmers at a South Carolina beach.
