Home Depot Reduces Workforce by 800 at Atlanta Support Center During Restructuring Efforts
‘The Big Money Show’ panel reacts to new data showing Gen Z hiring has collapsed while older workers stay in the workforce longer.
Home Depot announced on Wednesday that it is eliminating 800 jobs associated with its Atlanta store support center. This decision is part of a broader corporate restructuring aimed at streamlining operations.
In addition to the layoffs, the company has mandated that its corporate employees return to the office full-time, five days a week. “We’re simplifying our corporate operations to better support our stores and our customers,” Home Depot stated in a message to FOX Business. “These changes include a reduction in roles associated with our store support center and a transition to a five-day in-office schedule for our corporate staff.“
The retailer emphasized that its goal is to “drive greater agility and position the company to move faster and stay even more closely connected with our frontline associates.”

While the home-improvement retailer characterized the layoffs as a “difficult decision,” it has committed to providing affected employees with separation packages, transitional benefits, and job placement support.
In its latest quarterly earnings report, Home Depot projected a significant decline in fiscal 2025 profit, as reported by Reuters.

This personnel change at Home Depot coincides with a wave of job cuts across various sectors. For instance, Amazon announced on Wednesday that it will cut roughly 16,000 roles as part of an organizational overhaul aimed at “reducing layers, increasing ownership, and removing bureaucracy.”
Similarly, the United Parcel Service (UPS) revealed plans to slash up to 30,000 operational roles this year as part of its transformation strategy.
