Insurica Expands Reach with Acquisition of Florida’s First Light Program Managers

Insurica, recognized as one of the largest brokerages in the United States, has made headlines with its recent acquisition of First Light Program Managers, a Florida-based wholesale brokerage and delegated underwriter that specializes in trucking and marine coverage.

This acquisition, which takes effect this month, marks a significant milestone for Insurica, being the largest in the company’s 67-year history. According to a news release from Insurica, this strategic move aligns with a growing trend in the insurance industry, where net written premiums by managing general underwriters have surged by 40% over the past year.

Leaders at Insurica are optimistic about the future, believing that the trend toward delegated underwriting and program structures will persist, especially in challenging classes of business. The company provides a wide range of placements, including commercial and personal lines, as well as benefits and workers’ compensation.

First Light Program Managers was established in 2007 by the late Anthony Johnson and is headquartered in Fort Lauderdale. Janet Fender, the CEO of First Light, expressed confidence that this merger will strategically position the firm for sustained growth in the years to come.
