Markel Partners with Upfort for US Cyber Solutions; Business Risk Partners Introduces SML Program
Markel has announced an exciting new collaboration with Upfort, aimed at enhancing the security measures available to eligible U.S. cyber policyholders. This partnership introduces an expanded suite of tools designed to help businesses safeguard their operations and mitigate the risks associated with cyberattacks.
At the forefront of this initiative is Upfort Shield, a multi-layer cyber defense platform now accessible to Markel’s eligible cyber policyholders. This platform offers AI-powered, automated protection against a variety of common cyber threats. Additionally, policyholders can take advantage of an easy-to-deploy endpoint detection and response (EDR) solution, which utilizes behavioral analytics to significantly lower the risk of breaches. It’s important to note that service availability and pricing may vary based on individual circumstances.
“This collaboration aligns with Markel’s long-term cyber strategy to provide innovative insurance solutions for middle-market businesses,” stated Raphael Da Costa, senior director of U.S. cyber and tech at Markel. “It allows us to broaden our appetite, helping our policyholders strengthen their risk prevention, and position ourselves to deliver customized cyber coverage as the market continues to mature.”
Upfort’s capabilities extend beyond just protection; they include advanced email security, continuous monitoring, and comprehensive employee training. This equips businesses with the necessary tools to enhance their resilience while allowing them to concentrate on their core operations and growth.
Business Risk Partners Launches SML Program with US-Based Capacity
In another significant development, Business Risk Partners (BRP) has unveiled a new Sexual Misconduct & Molestation Liability (SML) program. This initiative is designed to meet the increasing demand for dedicated, monoline coverage supported by domestic carrier capacity.
The SML program offers up to $5 million in capacity, with coverage available on both primary and excess bases across a diverse range of sectors, including healthcare, education, and religious organizations. As sexual misconduct allegations pose substantial safety, reputational, and financial risks for organizations, many insureds often find their General Liability policies lacking. BRP’s program aims to fill these gaps with a specialized solution backed by expert underwriting and claims support.
“We’ve written SML for more than a decade and have seen the demand for monoline abuse coverage accelerate across the market,” remarked Lisa Doherty, president and chief executive officer at Business Risk Partners. “Brokers want solutions that are disciplined, responsive, and easy to work with. This program gives our wholesale partners a strong, domestic option that delivers speed and stability, adding a competitive offering as these risks continue to grow more complex.”
With carrier capacity rated “A-” by AM Best, this program offers brokers a dependable domestic alternative in a market often dominated by overseas placements. In addition to robust policy terms, complimentary prevention and crisis response services are available through ePlace Solutions.
