United Airlines and American Airlines are in a fierce competition for dominance at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport. As the summer travel season approaches, both airlines are ramping up operations significantly.
On Tuesday, United Airlines announced plans for its largest summer schedule at O’Hare, with a record 750 flights daily. This marks an increase of about 200 flights compared to its nearest competitor, making it the largest schedule ever operated by any airline at this airport.
By 2026, United will provide nonstop service to 222 destinations from O’Hare, surpassing its closest rival by 38 destinations. This includes 47 international cities across Europe, Asia, and South America, along with 175 domestic locations.

He emphasized that “this growth at O’Hare highlights our commitment to invest in our network, customers, and hiring in the city we call home.”
