TowerBrook Capital Acquires Stake in Insurance Claims Firm MSA Mizar

Investment firm TowerBrook is making headlines with its acquisition of a majority stake in MSA Mizar, a prominent provider of insurance claims management services. This marks TowerBrook’s first venture into the Italian market since establishing its office in Milan last year.

According to a statement reviewed by Bloomberg News, MSA Mizar’s current investor, Columna Capital, along with the firm’s Executive Chairman Giovanni Campus, will reinvest and maintain a significant minority interest in the company. The management team at MSA Mizar will continue to be led by Chief Executive Officer Antonio Marchitelli, with Campus remaining in his position.

Insiders familiar with the transaction have indicated that MSA Mizar is valued at up to €400 million (approximately $469 million), including debt. This substantial valuation reflects the company’s robust position in the insurance claims sector.

Founded in 1979, MSA Mizar has established itself as a key player in insurance claims management and third-party claims administration. The company specializes in high-frequency motor and property claims, operating across six European countries, including Spain, France, Belgium, and Switzerland. Each year, MSA Mizar manages over 850,000 claims and employs around 850 professionals dedicated to delivering efficient service.

Columna Capital’s investment in MSA Mizar in 2022 has proven fruitful, as the company has since completed 10 strategic acquisitions. These moves have allowed MSA Mizar to expand its offerings into adjacent claims segments and penetrate new markets across Europe.
