In a significant health alert, over 3.3 million pounds of frozen chicken fried rice are being recalled due to potential glass contamination. This warning comes from federal officials who have raised concerns about the safety of these products.
Ajinomoto Foods North America is at the center of this recall, which involves approximately 3,370,530 pounds of frozen, not-ready-to-eat chicken fried rice products. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) made the announcement on Friday, highlighting the serious nature of the contamination risk.
The recall specifically affects products available at Trader Joe’s locations across the country. However, it is important to note that the Ajinomoto items were exclusively shipped to Canada.

The FSIS has specified that the recall includes 20-ounce plastic bag packages of Trader Joe’s frozen chicken fried rice, which contains stir-fried rice, vegetables, seasoned dark chicken meat, and eggs. Additionally, the Ajinomoto product is packaged in a carton that contains six bags of “Yakitori Chicken with Japanese-Style Fried Rice.”
All affected chicken fried rice items were produced between September 8, 2025, and November 17, 2025, as per the FSIS announcement.

Officials are urging consumers to check their freezers for the affected products and either dispose of them or return them to the store for a refund.
