Walker from TDI Receives NAIC Robert Dineen Award for Exceptional Service

In a significant recognition of her contributions to the field of insurance regulation, Jamie Walker, Deputy Commissioner of the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI), has been awarded the prestigious Robert Dineen Award. This award is the highest honor for a state regulator, presented by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).

NAIC President Jon Godfread praised Walker, stating, “Her career reflects remarkable growth, dedication, and leadership in financial regulation. Beginning as an examiner trainee in 2000, she has become a nationally and internationally respected authority in the field.” This accolade underscores Walker’s extensive experience and her pivotal role in shaping insurance regulation.

Walker’s journey at TDI has been marked by a series of progressive roles. She started as an examiner trainee and quickly advanced to assistant chief examiner in the Examinations Section. Her career trajectory continued as she took on the role of associate commissioner of the Licensing Services Section, followed by her position as assistant deputy commissioner of the Financial Regulation Division. In 2018, she was appointed deputy commissioner of Financial Regulation, further solidifying her leadership in the industry.

In addition to her administrative roles, Walker actively contributes to various industry task forces. She serves as the chair of the Accounting Practices and Procedures Task Force and is a member of several other important groups, including the Statutory Accounting Principles Working Group, Reinsurance Task Force, Capital Adequacy Task Force, Financial Stability Task Force, and the Group Capital Calculation Working Group. Her involvement in these initiatives highlights her commitment to enhancing the standards and practices within the insurance sector.
