Palantir CTO Highlights AI-Driven Industrial Speed as Crucial for U.S. Defense

Palantir Chief Technology Officer Shyam Sankar explains how AI is empowering American workers on ‘Mornings with Maria.’
The missing piece of America’s defense system is AI-driven industrial speed — not just weapons, but the ability to build them quickly enough to make a difference. According to Shyam Sankar, Chief Technology Officer of Palantir, this capability is crucial for national security.
“There is a historic opportunity for America to underwrite the next decade of our prosperity with AI,” Sankar stated during his appearance on “Mornings with Maria”. He emphasized that deterrence extends beyond military might; it also involves the efficiency of production on the factory floor. “Can we make our weapons, our platforms? Can we produce them at a rate that actually deters our adversaries?”
In light of recent U.S. military actions, including strikes on Venezuela and the capture of its leader, Nicolás Maduro, Sankar argued that America’s ability to outproduce its adversaries is now central to preventing major global conflict.
Since its inception, Palantir has forged significant partnerships with U.S. military branches, including the Army, Air Force, Space Force, and Navy, leveraging AI tools to revolutionize military operations.
“I think there is a doomerism narrative coming from both Silicon Valley and Wall Street, where a different reality is unfolding on the factory floor, in ICU nursing centers, and among our submarine-based industrial suppliers,” Sankar remarked. “This is about empowering American workers, giving them superpowers that allow us to underwrite our reindustrialization as a nation. That’s what’s happening every day out there right now.”
“Most people think about us and the work we do in the [foxhole], helping and planning missions and operations. But the other element of deterrence is really… the factory floor,” he added.

When asked by host Maria Bartiromo for a specific example of how Palantir could “deter World War III,” Sankar highlighted the company’s recent work with the Navy and shipbuilding.

Palantir CTO Shyam Sankar corrects critics who say artificial intelligence will create massive unemployment, lauding his company for allowing companies to hire ‘more’ on ‘The Bottom Line.’
“You see rolling out integrated planning and supply chain solutions that reduce dwell time,” he explained. “One of our suppliers was able to add a third shift and hire more American workers by using AI to accelerate production planning and manage their supply chain.”
“So I think having the right focus on how we use AI to drive American prosperity and the competitiveness of our companies is how we’re going to re-industrialize,” Sankar concluded.
