Trump’s Proposal to Prohibit Institutional Investors from Acquiring Single-Family Homes

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump unveiled plans to prohibit institutional investors from acquiring single-family homes, a move he believes will enhance affordability for American families.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated, “For a very long time, buying and owning a home was considered the pinnacle of the American Dream.” He emphasized that homeownership has traditionally been viewed as a reward for hard work and ethical behavior. However, he lamented that due to “Record High Inflation caused by Joe Biden and the Democrats in Congress,” this dream is becoming increasingly unattainable, particularly for younger generations.

Trump further elaborated, stating, “It is for that reason, and much more, that I am immediately taking steps to ban large institutional investors from buying more single-family homes, and I will be calling on Congress to codify it.” This initiative aims to restore the dream of homeownership to many Americans who feel priced out of the market.
