In a significant response to escalating tensions in Minneapolis, over 60 CEOs from Minnesota-based companies have issued a call for an “immediate deescalation of tensions.” They urge federal, state, and local officials to collaborate in finding “real solutions” following a tragic incident involving federal immigration agents.
On Saturday, Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse, was fatally shot by Border Patrol agents while documenting federal immigration operations in Minneapolis. Eyewitness accounts suggest that Pretti was attempting to assist a woman who had been knocked down by agents when he was confronted with an irritant, pushed to the ground, and subsequently shot. Disturbingly, an agent was seen removing Pretti’s legally owned firearm from his waistband before the shooting occurred.

“The business community in Minnesota prides itself on providing leadership and solving problems to ensure a strong and vibrant state,” the CEOs stated in an open letter. They acknowledged the “widespread disruption and tragic loss of life” that has resulted from recent events.
In their letter, the CEOs emphasized their ongoing efforts to collaborate with federal, state, and local officials to advance meaningful solutions. They highlighted their close communication with the Governor, the White House, the Vice President, and local mayors, stating, “There are ways for us to come together to foster progress.”
They reiterated their call for immediate deescalation of tensions, urging officials at all levels to work together to find effective solutions.
