Kevin O’Leary Sounds Alarm on Canada-China Relations Amid Trump’s 100% Tariff Threat

In a recent interview on “The Claman Countdown,” Kevin O’Leary, the well-known star of “Shark Tank,” issued a serious warning to Canada regarding its potential trade deal with China. He emphasized that the communist nation has a history of “screwing” its business partners, stating, “Canada will be no exception. China is not your friend.”

O’Leary’s remarks came in the wake of President Donald Trump threatening to impose a staggering 100% tariff on goods imported from Canada due to its prospective trade agreement with China. This threat has raised eyebrows and concerns across the border.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney responded to these tensions by asserting that Canada has no intention of pursuing a free trade deal with China. He mentioned that recent agreements have focused on cutting tariffs in sectors affected by previous tariffs.

In a social media post, Trump countered Carney’s claims, stating that the Canadian Prime Minister is “sorely mistaken” if he believes Canada could serve as a gateway for Chinese goods into the United States.

In another post, Trump warned that China will “eat Canada alive.” O’Leary echoed these sentiments, asserting that the communist nation does not have good intentions in any potential trade agreement with Canada. “China is the economic and military and AI enemy to both Canada and the United States,” he stated during his appearance on FOX Business.

O’Leary emphasized, “You can have all the politics you want, but the enemy is China.” The implications of Trump’s 100% tariff threat could be severe, as Canada and U.S. trade is deeply intertwined. Notably, Canada is the top export destination for 36 U.S. states.

O’Leary elaborated on the interconnectedness of the U.S. and Canadian economies, stating, “70% of all output of Canada goes to 26 states. They’re the biggest trading partners, and for those states, Canada is their biggest trading partner.” He added, “We’re in love that way financially.”

The Canadian businessman also highlighted Trump’s proposed “Golden Dome” missile defense plan as a significant indicator of the administration’s priorities with Canada.

O’Leary pointed out that Greenland will serve as a missile defense site on the west side, while Alaska will cover the east side, leaving Canada in the middle. He remarked, “[Trump] has to get a deal done to get that dome.” O’Leary is optimistic that Trump and Carney will ultimately reach an agreement, stating, “They’re kissing cousins soon.”
