Seahawks Sale Expected Following Super Bowl LX: Latest Report

The Seattle Seahawks are on the brink of a significant moment in their franchise history as they aim for their second Super Bowl victory. However, the team will soon face another major transition right after the game.

According to reports from ESPN, the Seahawks, currently owned by Paul Allen’s estate, are set to go on the market following the championship game.

Paul Allen, the co-founder of Microsoft, passed away in 2018, leaving the team in the hands of his sister, Jody Allen. She has also been overseeing the Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Paul Allen’s estate remarked, “We don’t comment on rumors or speculation, and the team is not for sale. We’ve already said that will change at some point per Paul’s wishes, but I have no news to share. Our focus right now is winning the Super Bowl and completing the sale of the Portland Trail Blazers in the coming months.”

Back in 2022, Jody Allen confirmed that both the Seahawks and the Trail Blazers would eventually be available for purchase. Recently, the estate agreed to sell the Trail Blazers for an estimated $4.25 billion.

Paul Allen acquired the Seahawks from Ken Behring in 1996, with the deal finalized the following year. Under his ownership, the Seahawks have made the playoffs 17 times, including 11 appearances since 2010.

Throughout this period, the Seahawks have participated in two Super Bowls, with a record of 1-2. They lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2006 Super Bowl and faced the New England Patriots in a nail-biting rematch for back-to-back titles.

The potential sale of the Seahawks could set a record for the largest transaction in NFL and sports history. Currently, Sportico values the franchise at approximately $6.59 billion, ranking them as the 14th-highest valued team in the league.
