Recall Issued for Mouthwash Bottles Due to Labeling Mistake

In a recent alert, federal officials announced that over 80,000 bottles of mouthwash are being recalled due to a labeling error. The affected product is the Parodontax Active Gum Health Mouthwash, which has been distributed nationwide by Haleon US Holdings LLC.

The recall stems from concerns that the bottles may either lack the correct lot numbers or have incorrect expiration dates. According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the lot number for the affected bottles is 0665363, with an expiration date of August 31, 2027. However, it has been noted that this information may not be visible on the 500 mL bottles.

In addition to this recall, there have been reports of thousands of cholesterol drug bottles being recalled nationwide over manufacturing defects.

The FDA has classified this mouthwash recall as a Class III, which is the least severe classification for recalls. This classification indicates that the recalled product is not likely to cause adverse health consequences, although it does violate FDA regulations.

The FDA categorizes product recalls based on the level of risk they pose to consumers. Class I recalls are the most severe, indicating that the product could cause serious health consequences. In contrast, Class III recalls, like this one, signify that the product is unlikely to result in adverse health effects, despite being in violation of FDA regulations.

The recall process is currently ongoing, and the FDA has not disclosed the specific locations where the mouthwash was sold.
