UAW: Ford Worker Not Disciplined for Calling Trump ‘Pedophile Protector’ During Factory Tour

The Ford worker who heckled President Donald Trump during his visit last month to a Michigan auto plant was not disciplined and kept his job, according to the United Auto Workers union.

TJ Sabula, 40, shouted at Trump, labeling him a “pedophile protector” as the president toured the Ford River Rouge complex in Dearborn. The incident escalated when Trump responded by mouthing the words “f— you” and giving the middle finger, as captured in video footage.

Meanwhile, Trump’s Justice Department is under scrutiny from both Republicans and Democrats for its delay in releasing additional documents related to investigations into the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. This comes after a bipartisan law mandated the full release of these documents by December 19.

During the exchange, Trump warned Sabula that he would be fired, a statement echoed by UAW Vice President Laura Dickerson at a political conference in Washington. “This ain’t ‘The Apprentice’,” she remarked, referencing the reality show where Trump would dismiss contestants.

Dickerson emphasized that Sabula retains his job and has “no discipline on his record,” affirming the union’s support for his right to free speech. “A worker at that plant told Mr. Trump exactly what he thought of him,” she stated. “Unfortunately, we saw how the current president really thinks about working people when he responded with a middle finger.”

Ford’s executive chairman, Bill Ford, expressed embarrassment over the incident, calling it unfortunate.

Sabula later stated he had “no regrets whatsoever” about calling out the president. He estimated he was about 60 feet away from Trump and believed the president could hear him “very, very, very clearly.” He also expressed concerns about being “targeted for political retribution” for embarrassing Trump in front of his associates.

“I don’t feel as though fate looks upon you often, and when it does, you better be ready to seize the opportunity,” Sabula remarked. “And today I think I did that.”

Sabula identified himself as a political independent who had never voted for Trump but had supported other Republican candidates. The White House defended Trump’s reaction, claiming he gave an “appropriate” response to the heckler.

White House communications director Steven Cheung described Sabula as a “lunatic” who was “wildly screaming expletives in a complete fit of rage,” asserting that the president’s response was fitting.
