Costco Reduces Prices on Kirkland Wings, Chocolate Almonds, Golf Balls, and Sheets

Costco has made headlines recently by quietly lowering prices on several popular Kirkland Signature items. This move comes in response to customer feedback about rising prices on products that shoppers have flagged online as increasingly expensive.

During the company’s latest earnings call on May 28, executives announced that price cuts affected at least four key private-label items. This decision is seen as a potential relief for consumers grappling with persistent inflation over the past few years.

The price reductions varied significantly, ranging from approximately $1 to $10 across various categories, including food, home goods, and sporting equipment. CFO Gary Millerchip highlighted these changes during the third-quarter 2026 call, noting that the KS Crispy Wings dropped from $16.99 to $14.99, while KS Milk Chocolate Almonds fell from $19.99 to $18.99. Other notable reductions included KS Golf Balls, which decreased from $32.99 to $29.99, and KS King Size Sheets, which were cut from $89.99 to $79.99.

The wholesale warehouse chain stated that these price adjustments aim to provide members with maximum value while continuing to undercut competitors, aligning with its broader pricing strategy. CEO Ron Vachris emphasized, “Our goal is to be the first to lower prices and last to raise them.” Millerchip echoed this sentiment, stating, “Our goal is to be the first to lower prices where we see opportunities to do so.”

Social media users have noted that Kirkland’s chocolate-covered almonds, a long-time favorite, have become noticeably more expensive over the years in both the U.S. and Canada. One U.S. shopper expressed frustration on Reddit, stating, “They’ve become too expensive.” Another Canadian shopper lamented, “I love the Kirkland brand 1.5 kg chocolate covered almonds. They used to be $17, then they went to $20. Now they are $27!!”

Costco Wholesale has not disclosed the specific reasons behind the latest price cuts. However, this action follows a previous instance over a year ago when the retailer voluntarily reduced prices on select Kirkland Signature products.

In 2024, notable price drops included KS macadamia nuts, which fell from $18.99 to $13.99, Spanish olive oil (3-liter) from $38.99 to $34.99, standard foil from $31.99 to $29.99, laundry packs from $19.99 to $18.99, and the baguette two-pack from $5.99 to $4.99, as previously mentioned by Millerchip.

Millerchip also noted that KS boneless chicken tenders experienced a 13% price drop, leading to a remarkable 21% increase in pounds sold. “Kirkland Signature offers significant member value compared to the national brands and continues to grow at a faster pace than our business as a whole,” he stated.
